Competitive dancing is easily regarded as a heteronormative sport. Same sex dancing, however, is a worldwide phenomenon in which the dancers compete by interpreting the dance with a queer perspective.

In same sex competitive dancing, the roles of the dancers are not shackled by predetermined gender roles, but it is always up to the dancers to decide who will lead and who will follow.

This crash course gives you the chance to try out and enjoy a captivating sport. Same sex dancing is for everyone and no previous dance experience is needed. Santra Rinne and Piia Korpi, the first internationally renowned Finnish same sex dance couple, are your instructors during the course.

You are instructed in two Latin dances (Cha cha and Jive) and two ballroom dances (Waltz and Quickstep). Come by yourself or as a couple to enjoy same sex dancing!
